Zandiant Technologies Breaks New Ground with Development of Joyride™

Zandiant Technologies, the leading developer of mobile entertainment, wireless and computing products, is pleased in conjunction with Clarion Corporation of America to announce the release of Joyride™, the ultimate Multimedia Entertainment and Navigation System for the car. Zandiant led the development of Joyride™, including hardware design, software development and total system integration. Utilizing its wide range of expertise, Zandiant achieved several milestones with the completion of Joyride™.

Among Zandiant’s major accomplishments are the following:

  • Joyride™ is the world’s first system to enable simultaneous delivery of rear seat DVD Video and vehicle navigation
  • Joyride™ is the first automotive computer to provide Dolby® 5.1 Channel Surround Sound and DTS® Digital Surround
  • Joyride™ enables playback of MP3 audio files from either CD-ROM or Compact Flash Card
  • Joyride™ provides true multi-zone audio, enabling rear-seat passengers to enjoy DVD videos on headphones, while front seat occupants listen to radio, CD or MP3 audio
  • In addition to Multimedia capability, Joyride™ integrates Voice Recognition, Address Book, Voice Memo, and Wireless Messaging features.

Zandiant’s innovative design makes Joyride™ the world’s most sophisticated aftermarket Mobile Electronics product, and builds on Zandiant’s reputation as a leader in the Research & Development of mobile entertainment, wireless and computing products. Since its inception, Zandiant has led the development of several technically challenging OEM and aftermarket automotive products. With Clarion and French vehicle manufacturer PSA, Zandiant developed the first and second generations of the Citroën AutoPC. Zandiant software expertise in the emerging field of Telematics enabled the latest Citroën AutoPC to incorporate emergency communication functionality in addition to audio and navigation features.

The products developed for PSA were the first factory-installed systems to run the Microsoft® Windows® CE for Automotive operating system (OS). The new Clarion Joyride™ becomes the third product developed by Zandiant to run on the Microsoft® OS. Zandiant Technologies is an authorized Microsoft® Automotive Solutions Provider, and provides consulting services in this capacity to several vehicle manufacturers and Tier 1 automotive suppliers across North America, Europe and Japan.

Zandiant also has recently joined Texas Instruments DSP Third Party Network, providing digital signal processor algorithms and consulting services. Zandiant has extensive expertise in the optimization of DSP software, making sophisticated Multimedia systems like Joyride™ technically feasible.
